Run against cancer and KWF
Run Against Cancer is an initiative of the Koningin Wilhelmina Fonds or Dutch Cancer Society (KWF).
By participating in Run against cancer, you act through KWF's Fundraising platform to support our mission: less cancer, more cures, and improved quality of life for cancer patients.
By registering for Run against cancer, you agree to the following terms and conditions:
- Participants
Anyone aged 18 and older can participate in Run against cancer.
As a participant, you are an ambassador for KWF. Therefore, it is important to consider our mission during your participation: less cancer, more cures, and improved quality of life.
As a participant, you respect KWF's objectives and our focus on a healthy lifestyle. This means we do not associate with smoking, the tobacco industry, or alcohol. Therefore, you will not collaborate with organizations in these sectors during your activities.
- Registration and Fundraising
When you register for Run against cancer you receive a personal action page. Through this page, you can encourage your network to donate to KWF and help you reach your fundraising target.
To qualify for a race entry via KWF and a Run against cancer shirt, you must raise a minimum of €500/€750 in donations by [DEADLINE]. In this case, you don’t pay registration fees for the sporting event.
If you do not meet the minimum fundraising target by the deadline, you will need to purchase your race entry directly from the event organizer.
Are you participating as part of a team? Ensure that your team raises an average of €500/€750 per person via the team page by the deadline. This average applies to the entire team.
Example:
- If your team consists of 4 members, the team must raise at least 4 × €500 = €2000 / 4 × €750 = €3000 by the deadline.
- The total amount can be unevenly distributed among team members, as long as the average per member is at least €500/€750.
Ensure that you redeem your ticket with the event organizer by [DEADLINE VERZILVERDATUM].
Approximately six weeks before the event, race numbers are printed. If you redeem your entry after this date, your name will not appear on the race number.
If you purchase the race entry directly from the event organizer, you will still receive a Run against cancer shirt if you raise at least €500 in sponsorship money.
- Use of KWF Logo
We provide various promotional materials to help you share your fundraiser, including the special KWF-action logo. The guidelines for using the logo can be found here. If you have any questions or concerns, contact us at rentegenkanker@kwf.nl.
- Secure Your Race Entry
The sporting events linked to Run against cancer are very popular, and race entries are limited. Often, there is even a waiting list.
To retain your spot, you must start raising donations within two months of registering. If this is not done, KWF reserves the right to deactivate your action page and release your race entry to someone on the waiting list.
How to avoid this:
- Start fundraising immediately after creating your action page. For example, make a donation to your page yourself to demonstrate your commitment.
- Ensure you meet your fundraising target before the deadline.
If you do not start fundraising on time, you will receive a warning email before your race entry is withdrawn.
- Donations
All donations you raise are for KWF and will be used to support its mission.
If you decide not to participate in Run against cancer, previously collected donations will not be refunded, even if the event is canceled for any reason.
- Communication
We will keep you informed about Run against cancer and the sporting event via email and SMS. Please ensure we have your correct email address and phone number to avoid missing important updates.
