add remove

You can of course spread the word yourself. Additionally, through our fundraising platform we help you with promotional material, emails, and tools to share your fundraiser on social media.

I want to share my fundraiser on social media. How do I do that?

add remove

When you are logged in, you will find handy buttons on your personal dashboard to share your fundraiser via Facebook, WhatsApp, and other social media.

Why does my fundraiser automatically close after a certain date?

add remove

Each year, thousands of fundraisers are launched. To give the most recent fundraisers the attention they deserve, we close older fundraisers. Furthermore, KWF has two funding periods per year. The money from your fundraiser must fall within one of these two periods to be usable for research. To ensure that your fundraiser is completed, your fundraiser is closed 30 days after an event or three months after registration. Also, for privacy reasons, we ensure that your (sensitive) personal data is only visible on the platform for a limited time. And finally, from experience we’ve learned that most fundraisers remain relevant for about three months. For events, a fundraiser often shows little activity after 30 days. It is always possible, however, to extend your end date. Just contact us at acties@kwf.nl.

What should I do if I reach my goal before the fundraiser ends?

add remove

In that case, you can easily increase your target amount. Log in, go to your dashboard, and click “settings”.

What if I don’t reach my target?

add remove

No problem. Every euro counts. Reaching your target is not an obligation.

How can I involve my workplace or company in my fundraiser?

add remove

You can organize a fundraiser with your company, or you can participate together with your colleagues in an event, or have your company match the proceeds from a team. Everything is possible. The most important thing is to choose something that fits you, your colleagues, and your company — and something that can inspire others.

Where can I find photos and videos of KWF Dutch Cancer Society?

add remove

You can find videos on our YouTube channel. We also have a number of useful images you can share via social media. You can find these on the Tools & Downloads page.

What percentage of my donation goes to cancer research?

add remove

What is a general donation?

add remove

hat means you simply make a donation. You won’t be organizing a fundraiser.

add remove

Do you know someone who has set up a fundraiser? You can find them via the search field at the top or via the “donate” button.

How do I deposit cash donations collected?

add remove

First deposit the cash into your bank account via your bank or via a Geldmaat ATM location. You can then use your own fundraiser page or the donate-button to transfer the collected money to your fundraiser page.

How can I give regularly (structurally)?

add remove

Would you like to give a nice amount each month or every year? We’re of course very happy for that. You can arrange this easily via the KWF website.

What is the tax benefit of donating?

add remove

Your donations are tax deductible. You can find more information here.

Why is €0.75 added to my donation?

add remove

There are costs associated with our fundraising platform — think of hosting and transaction costs. KWF tries to raise as much money as possible for cancer research. If everyone contributes an extra €0.75, we can offset the platform costs as much as possible.

Donating via iDEAL isn’t working.

add remove

That’s unfortunate. Check if there might be a malfunction at your bank and try again later. If there is no malfunction, contact our action team at acties@kwf.nl  or call during office hours at +31 20 570 05 70 (standard call charges).

Is it safe to donate via a KWF QR-code?

add remove

Yes. All QR codes used by fundraisers via acties.kwf.nl are linked to our official and secure payment environment. Once you scan a code, you always arrive at a web address ending in .kwf.nl. That way you know your donation truly goes to KWF. The payments are also processed via a recognized payment provider and over a secure connection (https), so your payment data is well protected.

What is KWF Dutch Cancer Society?

add remove

KWF Dutch Cancer Society is a Dutch foundation dedicated to fighting cancer through scientific research, public education, patient support, and fundraising.

What does KWF Dutch Cancer Society do?

add remove

Why does KWF raise funds for cancer research?

add remove

KWF funds over 600 cancer research projects. A complete overview of all research projects financed by KWF can be found in our research database..

How does KWF Dutch Cancer Society select its research projects?

add remove

The KWF Advisory Council, made up of leading national researchers and (former) patients, carefully assesses these proposals based on scientific quality, feasibility, and relevance. You can read more about this process on our website.

How much research can be done with the money from my fundraiser?

A single research project lasts about four years and costs over half a million euros. Every euro you raise with your fundraiser contributes directly to this.

Where can I find information about KWF Dutch Cancer Society’s spending?

add remove

Many people are curious about where donations go and, for example, about our director’s salary. We completely understand that. Donors are rightfully critical about how their money is spent. That’s why we are happy to explain exactly where the donated funds go. You can read more about this on our website.

Why does KWF have the CBF Seal of Approval, and what does it mean?

add remove

The CBF (Central Bureau on Fundraising) is an independent organization that has monitored the collection of charitable funds in the Netherlands since 1925. It promotes responsible fundraising and spending by providing information and advice to government bodies and the public. KWF Dutch Cancer Society was one of the first charitable organizations in the Netherlands to receive the official CBF Seal of Approval in 1996. Since July 1, 2016, this has been converted into the official Recognised Charity status (Erkenning Goed Doel). This recognition guarantees donors that KWF is a trustworthy organization to which they can give with confidence. Read more about the CBF here.
