Ik ren tegen kanker tijdens de NN Marathon Rotterdam

6 days before Rotterdam Marathon

Tuesday 8th Apr
𝐍𝐨𝐰 it's really going to get going. The last few days I've been mainly concerned with "what will the weather be like" and "how much should I drink" and "what pace can I best maintain". All things that I think a lot of runners have in the last few days leading up to the Rotterdam Marathon. Fortunately, the training sessions are now over and we're really going to work towards the start. In the meantime I've received my starting number 1188 and I'm almost ready.

𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐬 to all my sponsors I can now already add at least 1600 euros to KWF Kankerbestrijding (Cancer Research). It has been a common thread through everything in the past few months. Both my father-in-law and my father are fighting this disease and unfortunately also lost a close colleague. That makes running on such a beautiful day extra special. 
There is still the possibility to sponsor, so if you want to contribute to a World in which cancer will be easily cured.

𝐈 𝐚𝐦 looking forward to a great day that is coming. #Demooiste will show itself from its best side again. An amazing city with a great organization and half a million visitors cheering and calling everyone forward for the last few meters. What else do you want?????

What an incredible first 24 hours

I’m amazed by this incredible achievement. In only 24 hours you all supported me as such that the the minimum required amount of Eur.750,00, which is needed to receive my ticket for the Marathon, has already been reached.
I’m thankful with so many friends/family who are willing to support the road to a better future for those who are being diagnosed with cancer.

As the first step is taken I have raised the bar and I’m hoping that more money gets available.

I have “officially” started my training program today. The planning will be 2x times a distance of 6-7km 1x 12-14km a week and every 2 weeks a longer distance.

Updates will follow.

Finally I have done it. ……..Well, the most difficult part still to come, but I have signed in for Marathon Rotterdam 2025. At the moment it feels like years away, but like Xmas, its there before you know and in the mean time you need to get prepared. 

I’m going to do this with extra motivation to raise money for Fighting against Cancer
Like almost everybody I have friends, family and relations dealing with this challenging and for some fatal disease.  With all the money and support we all hope that new treatments and medicines will save lives of those who are confronted with the diagnosis Cancer.

Are you ready to support me and with this helping towards a future where cancer will not be a potential dead penalty.
