I'm running against cancer during TCS Amsterdam Marathon 2026
This year, I am running the TCS Amsterdam Marathon 2026 Against Cancer. I am running for hope.
Every day in my work as a researcher, I come face to face with one of the most aggressive and devastating forms of brain cancer, glioblastoma. Glioblastoma moves fast, and despite decades of research, treatment options are still painfully limited.
In the lab, we search for answers. Research is hope in its earliest form. I am running especially for all of the patients that I come across everyday at work and for which I hope to have a direct impact more than my research.
I see what glioblastoma takes away. That is why I want to give something back. Every kilometer I run is for patients who cannot. For a future where a diagnosis like this is no longer a hopeless one.
Together with the Dutch Cancer Society (KWF), we are working toward a better life with and after cancer. This is urgently needed because cancer touches us all, directly or indirectly. At some point in life, every one of us will be affected.
