Children are my heroes.
I’m running this marathon to raise money for cancer research.
Some of you know that my 7-year-old goddaughter fought cancer with incredible courage until her last breath. She was pure sunshine, in love with life, rainbows, and unicorns.
I also think of a brave 4-year-old little friend who’s fighting like a warrior — and thankfully, making progress.
And of one of my aunts, who beat this awful disease.
I’m not sharing names, to protect their privacy — but I know many of you will relate. My experience is not unique. In the Netherlands alone, 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
That’s why I’m raising funds for KWF (Dutch Cancer Society) — to help fund vital research and save more lives.
