Running for Those Who Can't – My Wings for Life Journey

Monday 5th May

On May 4th, 2025, I had the privilege of participating in the Wings for Life World Run 2025, an event that brings together runners from all over the globe to raise funds for spinal cord injury research. This run was more than just covering distances—it was about unity, determination, and hope.

I took on the challenge in Breda, pushing myself with every step and embracing the energy of thousands running alongside me. By the time the Catcher Car reached me, I had covered 16.69 km, an accomplishment that filled me with pride. Among the 310,719 participants, I ranked 38,783 globally and 1,088 locally, proving that every runner, regardless of their pace, contributes to something bigger than themselves.

Most importantly, together we raised €8.6 million for spinal cord research, with my own effort contributing €39.95. Seeing the impact of our collective strides reinforces the importance of this event.

Running for Wings for Life is a reminder that every kilometer counts—not only for personal growth but for a future where spinal cord injuries can be overcome. I’m grateful for everyone who supported me and cheered me on. Let’s keep running, keep pushing, and keep believing in a cure!

The Run Against Cancer event provides an opportunity to support vital research and give hope to countless individuals and families affected by this disease. Knowing that my efforts contribute to such a meaningful cause motivates me to push myself further every day.
