Running for Optimism during TCS Amsterdam Marathon 2026
This isn’t a run against cancer. It’s a run in celebration of beating it.
A few months ago, an old friend told me over dinner that his wife Judith had been diagnosed with colon cancer.
I was struck, not only by the news, but by the bravery it takes to carry something like that while the world carries on around you.
But Judith did more than carry it. A surgery, a course of Capox chemotherapy, and she’s back. In full remission!
That outcome isn’t luck, it’s what early detection and modern medicine make possible.
Colon cancer caught early is increasingly beatable. That’s worth celebrating, and worth funding.
So in October I’m running the Amsterdam Marathon for KWF Kankerbestrijding — the organisation doing the research that turns stories like Judith’s from rare exceptions into the rule.
She did the hard part. I’m just running.
