Running Together for a Cause – BCD Dam to Dam Run 2026
On what would have been my dad's 81st birthday, I will take part in the Dam tot Damloop in Amsterdam with 100 of my BCD colleagues.
Coming together not only as colleagues and runners, but as a team united by purpose - to end cancer.
BCD's participation is dedicated to the memory of our founder, John Fentener van Vlissingen. Who like my father, lost his battle with cancer.
In JVV's honor, BCD is bringing their annual BCD running event to the Netherlands — his home country — and raising funds for cancer research through KWF Dutch Cancer Foundation.
KWF Dutch Cancer Society is a sister organization to the American Cancer Society, each working toward shared goals in cancer prevention, research funding, and patient quality of life.
By supporting this cause, we continue to honor their legacy while contributing to a future where cancer can be better understood, treated, and ultimately prevented.
The Dam tot Damloop is one of the most iconic running events in the Netherlands, taking participants from Amsterdam to Zaandam. The 10-mile (16.1 km) route crosses the IJ tunnel and winds through vibrant streets filled with cheering crowds, live music, and an electric atmosphere.
It’s more than just a race. It’s about connection, remembrance, and making a difference together.
