I'm running to raise money for cancer research. Will you run with me?

On 4 October, I'll be at the start of the 10km TREK Singelloop Utrecht race. I'm doing this not just for myself, but for everyone touched by cancer. That's all of us really, as nearly everyone is affected by it at some point, either personally or through someone close to them. Cancer makes no distinction between young and old, and tends to strike when people least expect it.

I'm running for everyone it affects. Not only those who receive the diagnosis, but also the people around them: partners, children, parents and friends. They're hit just as hard. Cancer never touches just one person; it affects everyone around them.

But there is hope. Thanks to research, we can do more and more: detect cancer earlier, treat it more effectively and, in some cases, prevent it altogether. Every euro that goes towards research brings us close to that future.

That's why I'm taking part. Every kilometre I run is for research, for better treatments and for a future in which fewer people and families ever have to hear those words.

But I can't do it alone. Your donation will go directly to KWF (the Dutch Cancer Society), which works tirelessly to prevent and cure cancer and improve the quality of life of those living with it. Every amount, big or small, counts and brings us closer to a world without cancer.
