In October, I will run the Amsterdam Marathon.

42.195 kilometers.
Not just as a personal challenge, but with a purpose.

This year, I’m running for KWF (Dutch Cancer Society).

As a touring musician and guitarist for Delain, I’ve had the privilege of meeting people all over the world. After shows, fans often share their stories. Some are joyful. Some are deeply personal. And more often than you might think, they involve cancer.

Stories of strength.
Stories of loss.
Stories of people fighting battles far greater than any marathon.

Those conversations stay with me.

They remind me that being healthy enough to train, to tour, to run, is not something to take for granted.

I can run.
And that is a privilege.

So I’ve decided to use that privilege for something bigger than a finish time.

On my YouTube channel Hartlopen, I’m documenting the full journey — the early mornings, the long runs, the discipline, the setbacks, and the growth. Not just the strong moments, but the honest ones too.

Because this marathon is not only about endurance.
It’s about heart.
