I am running to support the fight against cancer, and to feel closer to someone I lost to this disease earlier this year
I never used to run, but somehow my father did — even back in Cuba, where running was far from a daily habit. In recent years, running has slowly become part of my life too, but 2026 will carry a deeper meaning. I lost my father to cancer in September 2025, and almost a year later I will keep running to honor his memory, to feel closer to him, to navigate my grief, and to support those who are still fighting.
