🏃 In Action for KWF & the Alzheimer Fund — Amsterdam Marathon 2026
In October 2026, I will run the Amsterdam Marathon to support KWF Kankerbestrijding and the Alzheimer Fund, two causes that are deeply personal and urgently important.
In the Netherlands, cancer remains the leading cause of disease-related deaths, responsible for nearly a third of all lives lost each year. At the same time, dementia—including Alzheimer’s and Lewy Body Dementia—has become one of the most significant neurological causes of death, affecting thousands of families every year.
What is especially worrying is the trend among younger generations: cancer diagnoses in adults aged 18–39 have risen sharply over the past decades. This makes research, early detection, and prevention more important than ever.
My motivation is personal. Several members of my family have faced these diseases, including my father, who is currently living with Lewy Body Dementia, a severe form of dementia that causes fluctuating cognitive abilities, movement challenges, and hallucinations.
To honor everyone who has battled cancer or dementia, and to help prevent future suffering, I am dedicating this marathon to them.
I support KWF through this official fundraising action, and in parallel, for every €10 donated, I will personally contribute €1 to the Alzheimer Fund.
Together, we can fuel research, support patients and families, and move closer to a future where fewer people have to face these devastating illnesses.
Thank you for your support — every euro makes a difference.
