21.1 kilometres with my father-in-law. For a cause close to our family.

This October, I’m running the Amsterdam Half Marathon with my father-in-law, Michel.

I got into running last year, and it’s fair to say I’ve become a little obsessed. Shoes, training plans, nutrition—I can talk about all of it for far too long. Michel keeps reminding me to take it easy. Sometimes I even listen.

For my 30th birthday, Michel and Nicky came up with the idea of running in Amsterdam together. Now we’re turning that shared adventure into an opportunity to support KWF, the Dutch Cancer Society.

This cause is close to our family. Michel lost his mum to cancer when he was just 15. She was my wife Mia’s grandmother—a person neither of us had the chance to know. Family members and friends are also facing cancer today.

Through our team, Lion’s Mane, we’re raising money to support cancer research and better care for people affected by cancer. Our first shared goal is €1,500 by 18 September.
