Running with Purpose – For the Fighters, the Families, and the Future
This year, I’m planning to run the TCS Amsterdam Marathon for something deeply personal — to stand with those affected by cancer.
One of my dearest friends — someone brilliant, kind, and incredibly strong — was devastated when she found out that one of her parents had cancer. I still remember the moment she told me. Even while carrying that pain, she kept showing up every day — juggling all her responsibilities, and still bringing her usual smile, warmth, and energy to everyone around her.
After going through treatment, things started to look better. But then the cancer came back. For her, hearing that news the second time was just as heartbreaking as the first. And yet, she never lost hope. She kept going, kept growing, and kept trying to be a little better every day. Her strength, even in the toughest moments, has been nothing short of inspiring to me.
That’s why I’m running. For her. For everyone who’s been through something similar. For families who’ve had to be strong even when it hurts.
In the Netherlands, 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives. It’s not just a statistic — it’s someone we know. Someone we love.
Through this run, I’m raising money for KWF (Dutch Cancer Society) to support cancer research and care.If this story speaks to you, I’d be truly grateful for your support.
Every step matters. Every donation helps. Thank you. 💙
