I'm running for Luus during TCS Amsterdam Marathon 2026
Meet Lucienne, not only my aunt Luus, but also a 72 year old retired art teacher, a mother of two and the sweetest you’ll ever meet. Since her retirement she loves spending her time photographing, painting and roaming around in her garden.
This is only when she is not spending time with her loving friends, sisters, children, grandchilderen and of course her husband Maarten.
In March 2021 she unfortunately received the bad news that she was diagnosed with ovary cancer. This happens to around 1400 Dutch woman per year.
As what happens in 75% of the cases, her symptons started very late. Too late for it to be cured, as it was spreaded out already.
Luus is the strongest person I have ever met, and probably will ever meet. Even though other significant intense circumstances are ongoing in her private life, she manages to stay positive.
With her head high and smile from ear to ear every day, she lives life to the fullest.
With that mindset I want to call to action. Every euro matters and contributes to the Dutch Cancer Society's (KWF) mission of creating a better life with and after cancer.
The amount raised will go specifically to research funds for ovary cancer.
