Running for KWF

*UPDATE* Amsterdam Half Marathon
Wednesday 7th Oct 2026Hello everyone,
It is with the greatest regret that I hereby have to announce my withdrawal from this year's Amsterdam Half Marathon.
What began as a minor illness a month ago has unfortunately turned into something more serious.
After weeks of persistent symptoms, appointments, medical testing and a further deterioration of my health, I have now been diagnosed with an autoimmune condition.
As a result, I have been advised to put all exercise on hold indefinitely while focusing on treatment. This unfortunately means that, despite months of training, I will not be able to stand at the start line next Sunday.
This is an incredibly tough and disappointing decision to come to. I've put a lot of hard work into this race and I would've been willing to give up my personal goals just to be able to run the race at all, no matter how slow, but sadly that isn't to be.
I would once again like to thank everyone for the support, kind words, generosity and trust you all have shown me and this fundraiser, and I'm deeply sorry that I won't be able to hold up my end of the deal as promised.
However, while I may not be able to complete this challenge I set for myself, I'd like to reassure you all that the money we raised is helping save lives! Surely that's a positive we can all take away from this.
